She continues to do me honors - my projects, that is. Now she's gone and included my "Whimsical Flags" wall hanging in her Field Trips in Fiber - Eye Candy. I'm thrilled! Thanks, Vicki.

The colors of fall
This little sunflower medallion quilt continues to be one of my favorites. We've had a beautiful end of summer day. Can't wait for the fall solstice. Then it will be official....in the meantime, I'll continue to call mid-September the fall of the year.
Am I filled with Joy?
YES.....YES.....and YES!
I've been sorting. Sorting my selvage bin. Sorting out how to use them. How to use them in little projects. I first made pot holders. Love them and will make more. And will show them to you - soon - I hope.
But for today, I made these two book page markers. Wasn't really impressed with my bookmarks until I added stitching, then more stitching. Now they are filling me with joy. I'll keep one and pass the joy on to a book lover friend.
Joy of the day also means that I learned how to create clipping masks in photoshop. I have Lenore to thank for that. While her instructions are not for the simple-minded (that would be me), I did try and try until I figured it out. See the red JOY in the bottom of the photo....Well that was created with the clipping mask. Thanks Lenore. I'm sure I'll get more creative with this new-found photoshop technique as the day progresses.

Irons for the person who has everything!
My iron went cool the other day so I ran to Fred's....a favorite local of mine that always has almost everything I want when I want it....and it's only 3 blocks from the house. Even if the car is out of gas I can jump on the bicycle and get there. Or if the bike tire is flat....I can walk. There's just no holding me back from my local Fred's store. (Does this sound like a Nancy Pelosi soundbite???) It's early in the morning and I've already digressed! Anyway...continuing with the cool iron saga.....my friends chide me because I always purchase the cheapest iron I can find. It's just a personal opinion; therefore, my opinion, that an iron is an iron. But perhaps I'm wrong....take a look at these I found at Yanko Design and form your own iron opinion. I just didn't know!
A truly portable iron...what a perfect gift for the traveler person who has everything.
Or how about this stickpin iron. I may not iron men's ties, but I can see a length of 2 1/2" cut fabric running through this iron. No, wait....how about selvages? No more wrinkled selvages. This truly is the iron for the person who has everything. Be still my heart!
I forgot to remember the purpose of the rolypoly iron, but isn't she just the jewel. Perhaps it was to prevent singeing. Yes, that was it.....never singe again.
Transparency, now that's a new twist.
In the meantime, I'll just stick to my latest very affordable Hamilton Beach from Fred's. But, you may thank me for these gifting ideas for the sewing/pressing person in your life who has everything else!

{Echo} Week 21 - Portals
This bi-weekly challenge just wore me out. Portals? Hmmmmmmm? I zoomed the camera around the house taking pictures of doorways and gates. But nothing really zapped my britches. So as usual, I went to the quilt closet. There it was right in my face....portals - bird house style. This picture looks nothing like the original quilt, but you can see the portal anyway. Can't you?
Oh, and my {echo} challenge partner, Autumn, went mystical on me. Isn't this the most wonderful portal...it just draws you in. Autumn can take a picture and make it come to life.

Inside view 
Just arrived back from Dallas - yes, had a whirlwind tour and a great time. We can cram more shops into so few hours - at that break neck speed - no pictures were taken. I did, however, get a chance to make note cards before I left town Tuesday. I had on hand some fabric scraps, paint and pigma ink pin....YES, I CAN make something out of nothing - and enjoy doing it all the while!
French Country....Dreams
My sister gave me this antique twin lamp many years ago. She thought it was a piece of junk that would fit in with all my other junk....I had it rewired....didn't dare tamper with the fragile shades....it fits beautifully in the little powder room adjacent to my sewing room. I didn't realize it would be so photogenic - so well behaved - it just sat there while I played today!
I'll be heading to Dallas first thing in the morning to spend a few days doing fun things......It will be late and I'll be tired when I drag back home so ya'll keep the light on!
To Foyer or not to Foyer?
and some are a little too wild.....
and some are a little too way over the top.....
some are rooms within themselves.....this foyer is a big as my entire living/dining area!
then I found this little gem...I would love this in my next beach cottage. Well, that would be my first beach cottage!
This one is my favorite....I'm thinking I could clear out all my living/dining furniture and put a big white round table right in front of the entry and call this old room my new foyer....I'm loving this idea since we never use the "2 formals" anyway!

Here's the birthday card I made for her this morning. She's a little girly girl, so I thought the pink ruffles stitched on a card would be appropriate....then inside, I decided to camoflouge the stitching by painting a vase filled with flowers. Have to get it in the mail TODAY. Hugs your way Finley from Aunt Mart.....
Flora: Where are you going, my little ones?
September is here and the flora is changing. I love the autumn season and look forward to the leaves changing color, then falling. We'll still have flowers, but they will be different. The dogwood will have red berries soon and the birds will be happy with all the flower pods turning to seed. Sweet dessert after a hot summer.

She was sitting in the bathtub with her grandmother (in the background).....soaking their feet after a hard day shopping. Too good a picture to delete just because of the bathtub fixtures - so, I fixed it. Isn't she just the beauty!
Now I can diptych too! Can probably even triptych as my day progresses! Do I feel dumb....or what???
