Ink Blots and China Marker

and the fun continues on this rainy Sunday afternoon.....with no particular place to go!

First, there was an ink blot

before and after ink blot turkey

oh, my....the ink blot became a turkey with just a little help from my Sharpie china marker.

 and the little gosling

and on the other hand....reversed side of the ink blot became just another figment of my imagination.....a barnyard fowl with a little Sharpie china marker help.

I'm suppose to be seeking inspiration and sketching it out......

;however, I was distracted this morning with music in my head.

"The Dancer" a photoshop sketch original to Marty Mason

I'll resume my original plan in a moment or two.   In the meantime, let's dance!

Tuesday Tugs No. 1

When inspiration leaves, where will I be?  Where will my future be?   Here, I sit, pondering my future when I should be getting projects completed!  Life continues to be good.  However.....

Tuesday Tugs took me to the drawing board.....marty mason

.....My inspiration has been put on hold by projects that 'must' be completed.

So, I created myself a friendly challenge
Tuesday Tugs
May not be every Tuesday
But perhaps
Some
Tuesday will tug at me

The week just past was a delight.  With friends that I see frequently and friends I met last year and friends I made just yesterday at Our House in Milford....Texas.

I didn't like  her attitude!  All hot lips and pouty.  No, I didn't like her attitude at all ~

Getting Ahead.....not behind ~

I'm so far behind, I feel as if I'm walking behind myself!  If I keep going, perhaps I'll get back to even, then ahead ~  That's the plan anyway ~

Artificial Tree ~

Good morning Sunday:  Can you see me now?

Photoshop Sketchbook: Property of Marty Mason

In explanation....we have a great neighborhood, friendly, clean, with an active neighborhood watch, walkers, joggers, traffic a little too fast.  We like being aware of what's going on - just in case.  Well, the other day, a new and yet to be identified item appeared in our neighbor across the street's front upstairs window.  I noticed it and commented to the HuMAn.  He had noticed it also, but figured that night as the lights came on he would be able to identify the item.  Well, that didn't happen.

I'm still curious;  he is too.  We aren't stalkers, just curious.  Now, I didn't know he was doing this, so I'm no witness.....but he came in with a big smile on his face and identified the object.....an artificial tree, he proclaimed.  I finally mustered enough courage to ask how he knew and he explained that he got his big camera out - the one with the zoom, really zoom, lens.

That's when I stopped him....I didn't need to know the rest of the story.  As I said, I'm no witness and continue to hold fast to the fact that we aren't stalkers, just curious folks.

There's been no time for quilting

watercolor rendition of quilt block

I'm sure this block has a name; however, I don't know what it is.  I liked it enough to make another version.  A watercolor version will have to do since I don't have time just now to sit and sew.  I  have to admit, this version was much easier to make than my original block-based block!

unnamed quilt block....from block based

As a matter of fact, this was so easy, I may do another block or two in watercolor.  Sure saves on the thread.

I feel as though the year is ending, but I've only just

It's going to be a busy day again, but I just couldn't resist the temptation to reflect!

Lou, Lou, Skip to the Lou

Face Sketch by Marty Mason - her name is Louise

I haven't sketched anything in so long....this morning
was the right time to renew an old habit.

Louise and I greeted the day together.

  • Fly's in the buttermilk, Shoo, fly, shoo
  • There's a little red wagon, Paint it blue
  • Lost my partner, What'll I do?
  • I'll get another one, Prettier than you
  • Can't get a red bird, Jay bird'll do
  • Cat's in the cream jar, Ooh, ooh, ooh
  • Off to Texas, Two by two

  • Skip, skip, skip to the Lou,
Skip, skip, skip to the Lou,
Skip, skip, skip to the Lou,
Skip to the Lou, my darlin'.

    The outage didn't include lunch!

Entergy Company called the other day to tell us they were planning an outage for us.  It was to start on Monday morning and last for several hours.  They gave us no more specifics than that but we knew the outage wasn't going to include a picnic lunch!  But being good spirited as we often are, the HuMAn and I decided to make the most of this planned outage and head out this morning.

Sure enough, the lights went out around 7:30 this morning, so out the back door I headed....and the HuMaN decided he would  scratch off the items we needed from Walmart and gather the fixings for dinner tonight.  I was okay with that....I would rather be here than there.

I watched the Entergy guys work out on the high lines and knew we were still out inside the house, so on I worked, snipping the high growth and pulling weeds until I realized the meaning of the Paul Simon song, 'the nearer your destination you are, you are slip sliding away.'  About midway through the azalea hedge row, my back began to ache, but I kept snipping and sure enough,  my desire to finish kept sliding away.....and I kept snipping, but desire kept sliding away the nearer the end of the hedge row I got, the more my desire to finish slid away.

Just about the time my desire had completely slid away, hallelujah, the lights came back on.  About that same time the HuMAn pulled into the driveway, forcing me to perk up enough to finish the job since I really, really didn't want to put groceries away.    I love it when things go as planned!

and just for fun.......a couple of my face sketches

    Attitude....Yes, I have one!

Yes, my attitude is that we have choices...it's whether we choose to think about alternatives
    or not

I don't bet my life, but I'll bet that before it was done this way, there was another way....so don't tell me that it's always been done that way.  Think of another lie to tell me 'cause I'm not buying into that one any more.

    Photoshop Sketchbook

My parade got rained out today........but I'm all about making light of it!

    Making new brushes in Photoshop....

I first took my face sketch on watercolor paper....the one I sketched last week....I used it because it was already in my computer.....and made a brush per Margaret Applin-Happ's instructions.  You see, Margaret is the guest artist at 3 Creative Studios this month.  I follow this creative blog religiously and am very inspired by what Margaret is sending my way!  It's all about black and white: creating personal imagery.

Grabbed a picture of the fabric I selected to make my next quilt, made a few color adjustments, then added my new Picasso face image stamp!

and then just to make sure I had done this correctly, I grabbed the picture of my August calendar and stamped on it!  I've made a few brushes before but never with the ease I experienced this morning.  Thanks Margaret, Terri and Vicki over at the 3 Creative Studios for the pleasure of your creative company!

    Sketches on Paper and Fabric

Now that I've sketched and painted a tad this morning, I think I shall go cut fabric and quilt a spell.  Nothing is on the design wall - like these sketches, it's all in my head!

    Face Sketches

It's too hot to garden or take bike rides so I've been sketching...here are two out of the studio from yesterday afternoon!

    Her name is SuLynn

    .....and this is Serena
And they've joined "The Sullen Girl" on my wall ~

Art on Fabric Sheet added to a Purse

I first start by thread painting onto a collage of fabric. This is Sachie Claudine, one of my "Pretty Ladies in Smart Hats" fabric art cards. I then sent Sachie to a photo shoot and printed her on a fabric sheet.

When I found the lush fronds of green in my fabric stash, It just looked as though it needed Sachie Claudine to adorn the garden path. Added flowers and put all this into a messenger style purse (with pockets and magnetic snap, of course).

It's like the Sunday purse with Collette prettily posed (blogged about on Sunday) only different! Whether a Sunday or a Monday purse, I love them both.

Hugs 'til I can get a Tuesday purse whipped up.
