The thunder woke me early, so I've already opened my emails and ordered my tall thread tree. You see, Alyssa over at Pile O' Fabric says she always uses a free-standing very tall thread tree - even if her sewing machine doesn't come with one built in. Since purchasing my Juki, I've become very accustomed to the built-in thread tree and can really see the difference. So, now, I wanted a tall one for my Bernina and couldn't find one tall enough. What's a girl to do? I emailed Alyssa with my plight and she immediately sent me the link to Connecting Threads. My tall thread tree is now in the mail. It doesn't have a lot of branches....one tall branch standing 11" high was all I needed.

What's not to love about a THREAD tree?

Strip Happy....Quilting on a Roll
As a rule, I don't buy jelly rolls (my mistake), but I did win a door prize jelly roll package last week!
As a rule, I don't purchase quilt books on how to make jelly roll quilts (my mistake), but I was given this Strip Happy Quilting on a Roll book by Donna Kinsey, for hosting a meeting in my home last year.
So, putting the things I don't usually do together was easy yesterday afternoon when I matched the package of jelly roll strips with the jelly roll book.
Added to the pleasure of the day was the border....Colors of the Wind by George Mendoza.
I think Margaret J. Miller, author of Smashing Sets, would approve of the use of the non-matching blue in the border!

Hello! It's Me
I've fooled around and fell in love with Craig's List. Now I have these three pieces of drapery/bedding/upholstery weight fabric posted and hope to have these yardages sold and delivered within days. There's 2 1/2 yards of the yellow check @ $10.
and 3 yards of the royal blue @ $12
Happiness is ~ having 3 yards of camel design @ only $12
all 54" wide
I just walked back inside when the phone rang ~
I usually don't answer the phone if the number isn't one I'm familiar with. Some folks call this screening. I just call it saving my precious time. HOWEVER, I posted some tapestry/needlepoint yarn left over from previous projects on Craig's List,
SO I knew if I was gonna sell it, I had to answer questions about it!
SO I knew if I was gonna sell it, I had to answer questions about it!
Therefore,
when the phone rang and it was an unidentified wireless caller....I looked at the HuMAn and he looked back, rolling his eyes at me as he went back to his book. I very reluctantly answered the phone. Well, LOL and a happy dance, to my surprise, it was an inquiry about my yarn for sale.
(pause)
Okay, I'm home again and just walked back inside from meeting the most pleasant lady who bought my bags of tapestry and needlepoint yarn. A nice outing for my first Craig's List posting and sale. This may be the start of something big!
An Architect's Dream: In Abstract
It's an Architect's Dream.....featured on April 5 Quilter's Pastiche. Sure wish I had gotten the credit for being the proud designer and maker of this abstract art quilted wall hanging. And I'll bet the other three artists are wishing for the same thing!

If you get a chance...when you get a chance
to take a fabric hand dyeing class from Wendy L. Starn AKA Splendiferous Fiber on Etsy, do so:
Wendy is also a member of Contemporary Fiber Artists of Louisiana....see her art quilts, along with those of other Louisiana quilt artists, on display here.

Me (I'm the one holding the camera), Dorothy, Hanna Marie, Lynette, Emma, Wendy and Mary took a fabric hand dye class with Wendy Starn.
a sip of goodness, but the best is yet to come
Wendy had a trunk full of her hand dyed silk scarves
My very own: 2 1/2 yards of hand dyed goodness

this is one of my favorite Flickr favorites.... Great quilts and yea.....my 'orange you glad you're a pinwheel' quilt is included! A Quilt: Flowers In The Wind....was added
to two Flickr galleries curated by zsummer: Applique Quilts and Floral Quilts. My quilt is (and I am) loving the attention.
I selected as many different pieces of red and pink I could find in my fabric stash for the flower petals and outside border centers and machine appliqued them on to 12 different backgrounds to come up with delectable scrap happy quilt: a pattern out of The Best of Black Mountain Quilts by Teri Christopherson. Quilted by a local long arm quilter friend....Kay Thode. Love is having a scrap of fabric to put into a quilt and having it featured in two galleries! And, yes....it is for sale along with others in Marty in Motion where all things are for sale!

High Hopes ~
Yea.....I'm the eternal optimist. I start every day and every year with high hopes. And when I'm not downright busy, well then, I'm just busy. I got busy yesterday updating my website and I'm liking the fresh look. There's still a lot of adding to do but I rid the site of Etsy and added my other shopping venue - Marty In Motion. Go check her out and let me know what more I should do. I can use all the input you have to offer to make Marty's Fiber Musings sing out loud.
and I have to leave a picture - this one is dubbed "and the beat goes on".....an art quilt. I like the simplicity and fresh, modern look. The chartreuse, well, that just gives it the vibes I wanted....when in doubt, add chartreuse (thread or paint)!
Now I'm off to Shreveport to pick up my newest sewing machine: A Bernina! Every sewing studio needs two or more. Agree?

A market tote: blue stripe ticking: in the works
I wanted to make an everyday market tote: a little larger than the ones of my past -
all done and posted in my shop: For Sale
Simply done - added to the length and width of my existing pattern....thinking I had plenty of fabric for the tote.....wrong!
Oops! Okay...let's move on to alternate plan B. I did find this blue, about the same weight as the ticking fabric. This will do nicely (she says) for the gusset/straps
almost finished - just the top stitching left....then I'll add a button closure. Yes, I'm a pinner!
The girl can't help it.....she's happy!
