One of my favorite places to visit ~ It's A Field Trip ~
Field Tripping the Web....that is.
And Vicki has included my newest handmade journal. Oh, the inspiration she provides from so many wonderful sources....and it's right at my click-the-mouse-fingertips. And yours too. Go take a field trip compliments of Vicki. Merci beaucoup, Vicki!

I grabbed this painted fabric from a friend's trash can! Yes.....I'm not the only one who paints outside the lines.....difference is she didn't know what to do with her finished painting!

Dingy to Divine!
You see, when I need fresh containers, I make my Santa Fe Stew recipe - 'cause I can get at least six new ones as I dump each can into the biggest pot in the house.
Then, once I get the pot simmering (an all day affair), some tough decisions have to be made!
Do I punch holes in the bottom of the cans? When I do that, then the containers have to be used to repot.....
a leaf from my Christmas cactus.
Or Autumn Joy Sedum....or coleus or....impatients...or sage, or.... the list goes on and on. I love repotting snippets to easily delight my own windowsill or pass along to others.
But back to that tough decision. If I leave the bottom of the can intact, then it becomes the perfect foil for my next flower arrangement! Now is this not divine!
Or, another tough decision: Before I do all that, do I play around with the can label in photoshop!
Now, I'm off to find that Santa Fe Stew recipe again! Oh, here it is. This is one of those plan-ahead dishes. It's enough for dinner tonight, then there's plenty to freeze to have ready for unexpected (or expected) company!
And another thing ~ about an asterisk quilt!
The asterisk quilt is back from one of my favorite quilting friends.....but it still needs the binding sewn on! I'll do that soon.
I'm prone to wander! Look out Pojagi, here I come.....
What once was my sewing room has more often than not become my artful space! But, I did find my sewing machine yesterday and made my very first Pojagi Patchwork....in muslin.....since I wasn't sure if I could! I researched yesterday and found very little "how to" on line and since I didn't want to buy a book, I read what I could on the subject, looked at lots of pictures, a few u-tubes, then just winged it! Even in muslin, I loved the process. I think it makes a statement hanging in my living room window and in my sewing room window too!

Orchid Wrap~
I've spent the morning researching Pojagi! I'll continue doing more research, but I did want to share this ~ The Orchid Wrap!
Shot Cloth - Shot Cotton - Shot Cotton Cloth!
I've seen shot cloth/shot cotton in stores, but just didn't know what it was called! Several folks have asked what it is so.....here's a description I found online that describes shot cotton better than I can.
"Shot cloth cottons are yarn dyed, woven fabrics with one color in the warp and another color in the filling. This combination of fibers gives the fabric an iridescent look. The color changes as the cloth moves in the light. This very lightweight fabric has a luxurious hand and an excellent, full fold drape. Draperies, sheer curtains, bed skirts, toss pillows and swags."
Back to my thoughts: while this fabric ravels more than the cotton or batik most quilters are accustomed to working with, it has a beautiful luminous color quality. That, bar none, is it's most interesting quality. It just shimmers with joy and certainly made me hum a joyful tune on completion of my quilt blogged about here.
Shot Cloth gives quilts a WOW factor!
I've never put shot cloth in a quilt before! But I found yards of shot cloth straight out of Bali and with the easiest of ease just got this quilt whipped up over the weekend. Very simply done - 6" squares of Kaffe Fassett fabric surrounded by 2 1/2 inches of shot cloth! I'm loving it!

Happiness Is ~
Happiness is sharing what I found yesterday at NLQG - Sunshine Chapter meeting!
Yep, she is putting her dollars to best use - quilting projects hanging where her suits and dresses once hung!
Janie brought the quilt and sold bunches of raffle tickets. My fingers are crossed! I'll find out the last Sunday in June if it's mine to have and to hold! The Peach Festival in June - it's a huge Ruston, Louisiana, event!
