How Many Oxymoron's are There...

I woke up thinking this morning - and could only think of one thing. Oxymoron...what a strange word and who made this word!? Ok, Merriam-Webster again came to my rescue. I love keeping him/her so handy on my desktop. Here goes:

ox·y·mo·ron
Pronunciation:
\ˌäk-sē-ˈmȯr-ˌän\
Function:
noun
Inflected Form(s):
plural ox·y·mo·rons also ox·y·mo·ra \-ˈmȯr-ə\
Etymology:
Late Greek oxymōron, from neuter of oxymōros pointedly foolish, from Greek oxys sharp, keen + mōros foolish
Date:
1657
: a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (as cruel kindness) ; broadly : something (as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements

Ok...now, I'm really thinking. How many sharp, keen, foolish word combos are out there? If the first one started in 1657, there must surely be more than the one I thought of this morning...

"awfully pretty"

Now I'm on a quest (when I should be quilting). Send me your favorite oxymorons. The more, the better. Send my blog to your friends...I want their oxymorons too. Go get 'em!!
